While this sounds promising, it’s worth keeping some skepticism — despite the source having a decent history, no other outlets have confirmed this detail yet. Also, such a large leap in battery size would be more than what Apple usually delivers.
Still, if true, a 5,000mAh battery in the iPhone 17 Pro Max could be one of its most exciting upgrades, especially since early rumors suggest it won’t be a massive leap forward from the iPhone 16 Pro Max overall.
Based on current leaks, the biggest changes are expected to be in the design, with possible improvements to the chipset and some camera components. A longer-lasting battery would definitely help make this phone feel like a worthwhile upgrade.
And though this rumor specifically refers to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, if it really is getting a major battery boost, it's likely the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup will follow suit. We’ll probably get official confirmation in September, when Apple is expected to reveal its next-generation phones.
